About Elmhurst Choral Union

Elmhurst Choral Union is an auditioned volunteer choir, singing with a professional orchestra and soloists, performing classical masterworks of all eras as well as opera and Broadway selections. We perform two major concerts each year (early December and early Spring), and appear occasionally at Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra concerts and at special events in Elmhurst.

Our recent classical performances include Messiah (which we sing every other December), Bach B Minor Mass, Schubert Mass in A-Flat Major, Bach Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven Choral Fantasy and his Mass in C Major, Vivaldi Gloria, Handel Coronation Anthems, and the requiems of Mozart and Brahms.

Newer repertoire includes Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Gospel Mass of Robert Ray, and carol arrangements by John Rutter and Darmon Meader. We have performed American music from the colonial era through 21st-century jazz-influenced arrangements of Christmas music.

In appearances with the Elmhurst Symphony, we have sung Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Borodin's Polovtsian Dances, Orff's Carmina Burana, Mahler's Symphonies no. 2 and 3, the "chorus added" version of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, and Brahms' Naenie.

Our singers range from high school students to retirees. We perform and rehearse at Elmhurst College, where we have been based since our founding in 1952.

We have an ensemble available to perform at your event. Please use our contact page to learn more.
